There are some that believe that breakfast should stay in the morning. With the exception of brunch, there are many people who don’t think that breakfast foods below in the afternoon and evening hours, but they are missing out on scores of food that are delicious and nutritious meals for your entire family. These recipes are my favorite recipes that are hits in my family and that those that will change the minds of those who are unsure of whether or not breakfast belongs on the dinner menu.
Chicken and waffles
One of the most incredible food combinations are fried chicken and homemade waffles. People who have never tried them before may be skeptical of these two foods being eaten together, but once you try it, you’re going to want to eat this as often as possible. While it’s not the healthiest dinner option, it’s truly a comfort food that combines sweetness and saltiness. The best recipe I’ve found is from Grandbaby Cakes.
Eggs Benedict Burger
For those who still need convincing that breakfast belongs in the evening, try making an Eggs Benedict Burger. It combines a burger, which is an awesome dinner food, a poached egg, and hollandaise sauce. Again, this isn’t necessarily a healthy meal, but it could always be paired with steamed or roasted veggies and a salad to include more heart-healthy foods. A great recipe I found was The Brewer and the Baker.
If you love Mexican food and are looking for a more nutritious option for your family, try making Huevos Rancheros using the recipe by Cookie and Kate. This meal is so versatile because you can easily make it a great vegetarian option, you can make it spicy by using chorizo, or you can use a low fat protein by making it with turkey or chicken. Add some avocado for some extra protein and good fat or lay on the cheese and salsa.
Everyone loves pizza. It’s Americans go to dinner, whether it’s from the local pizza shop or from the frozen section of the grocery store. If your family has a taste for pizza, try making one with their favorite breakfast foods like bacon, sausage, or ham and top with cheddar cheese. You can use a frozen crust, one that comes in the refrigerated section, or even make your own. Try mixing different flavors together and incorporate healthy foods like spinach, onions, and green pepper for extra flavor. If using meat, it’s a good idea to cook the meat beforehand.
